In the unlikely event that you haven't yet heard, on October 10th, movie history was made when the Hollywood Reporter introduced the world to the very first feature film released exclusively to that small-yet-revolutionary device, the iPod. The film was RUNE. Produced by ISIS Productions and Rune, LLC, and offered as a free download. RUNE is a modern film noir, mysterious and brooding, and has for the past few months had everyone talking about language. It spawned an interest in the way humans communicate, which continued in the mainstream with studio films BABEL, BORAT, and APOCALYPTO. RUNE, clearly a small-yet-revolutionary movie, was later named one of the year's top must-have iPod accessories by Yahoo and PC World (in fact, it is the only non-hardware "accessory" on the list). The official site was overwhelmed with traffic almost immediately, but Limewire quickly had copies of the movie being traded back and forth. When people realized that for the first 3 days of its release, each day had a different "iPod slate" on the movie, it became an interenet-wide contest as to who owned all three (but most significantly the rarest of all - the "First Day Download" slate). Now for the first time you can own RUNE on DVD with rare special features, including the hard-to-find "Making Of" short, which was infamously taken offline after the first day of RUNE's release. In other words, if you weren't one of the first downloaders, you couldn't get this short documentary. Until now. The DVD comes in a special collector's case and includes a free [top secret] gift. It's loaded with special features, commentary, and it's rumoured to be packed with easter eggs. Just another thing for the fans to find. Happy hunting. |
